This is a very interesting piece. It is an old textile shipping label or ticket that was stuck on the front of the piece of cloth material as advertising. I found this at an estate sale and thought it was very interesting piece and I began to do research on it. I reached out to an expert in textile labels and he told me a lot of great information about it.
"This label is from the 1880-1910s. It is American based on the word “color” spelled without a “U”. The name Lanark was either used to invoke the impression that the fabric was made in Scotland, or it was made in Scotland and the label was attached to it in America.”
